The Reasons Why Cannot Be More Specific With Our Crystal Sources

At Beyond Bohemian, we pride ourselves on providing unique and ethically-sourced crystals to our valued supporters. However, you may wonder why we are unable to disclose the specific sources of our crystals. In the interest of transparency, we believe it is essential to shed light on why this practice exists.

1. Protection of Local Communities - Many of our crystals come from remote regions around the world, areas that may already face significant economic and social challenges. Disclosing the exact sources of our crystals could lead to over-extraction, disrupting the delicate balance of these communities' economies and possibly even endangering their cultural heritage.
2. Limited and Finite Resources - Crystals are a natural resource, and their availability is not infinite. While we make every effort to ensure ethical sourcing, revealing specific locations might lead to unsustainable extraction practices by unauthorized individuals or companies. By keeping our sources undisclosed, we can better manage the demand and ensure the longevity of these precious resources. Additionally many of our products quite literally come from people’s backyards and are sold through cooperatives. In many instances it is nearly impossible to give a specific location of the material.
3. Maintaining Trust and Intellectual Property - As a business, it is our responsibility to honor agreements with our suppliers and respect their private information. These suppliers may have worked hard to cultivate relationships with miners, attaining exclusive access to certain crystal deposits. Disclosing this information would not only breach these agreements but also undermine the trust we have with our suppliers.
4. Avoiding Counterfeiting and Exploitation - The crystal industry, unfortunately, attracts counterfeiters who seek to profit from its popularity. By keeping our sources undisclosed, we minimize the risk of these unscrupulous entities entering the supply chain. Additionally, not revealing the exact sources of our crystals helps prevent exploitation of the land or labor involved in the extraction process.
5. Ensuring Product Quality - Through years of experience, we have established trusted partnerships with suppliers who provide high-quality crystals. However, revealing our sources would make it easier for potential competitors to replicate our selection, compromising the uniqueness and quality that our customers have come to expect.
6. Our Business Is Largely Wholesale - It would be a lot easier to reveal our sources if wholesale did not account for over 80% of our business. It has taken us years of traveling and research to build the relationships we have. Many of the places we source from only produce things in limited quantities and they simply do not have the capacity to take on more work.

While we understand the curiosity surrounding the origins of the crystals we offer, we firmly believe that the reasons for not disclosing our sources are for the greater good. By adhering to ethical practices, protecting local communities, and maintaining the integrity of our products, we strive to provide you with the finest and most authentic crystals while also safeguarding the delicate balance of the crystal industry.
