This variety of rough rose quartz stones are "A" grade for containing a good pink color with occasional reddish-orange iron oxide mineral deposits. The coloration is often similar to “AA” grade except some stones have higher levels of surface mineral deposits that are too difficult to remove with our natural methods of cleaning. South Dakota rose quartz is world renowned for its deep pink color that is limited in availability. Just a few decades ago some of the finest rose quartz in the world was coming from the Black Hills region and many natural history museums contain their specimens. The mine where we source our rose quartz from is no longer producing and finding high quality authentic rose quartz crystals from South Dakota is becoming exceptionally rare. The deposits across South Dakota have mostly been mined out and the recent explorations have not yielded any good quality material that is economically viable. Once our current inventory of South Dakota rose quartz is gone it is likely gone for good. The larger sizes of rose quartz are highly sought after and valuable. These stones are 100% natural and have never been heat enhanced, dyed, or irradiated.
