This Namibian purpurite has a beautiful vibrant purple color, moderate iridescence, and contains minimal surface deposits. Some pieces feel like a higher grade with an excellent level of chatoyancy, while other pieces lack or have a minimal flashy effect. Yet still a great mixed batch that has a lot of special stones in it. A challenging mineral to polish, we only use water to rinse off loose sediment, dirt, and debris and keep this material in a completely natural raw state. Polishing oils are largely ineffective because the stone is quite soft and porous. Keep in mind because of the nature of this high iron manganese mineral it can be a bit messy when handling and we recommend hand washing after use. 100% natural and never irradiated or color enhanced, this purpurite would be an attractive stone for decoration, crystal grids, or to use in an arts and crafts project. We use it extensively in our farm as a natural source of fertilizer as it contains many beneficial minerals that plants need to thrive.
