Rio Grande do Sul, in southern Brazil. This region has produced commercial amethyst since the 1830s and is the largest source of mass-market amethyst geodes and points.

Is the color natural?

Yes. Brazilian amethyst is not heated or color-treated. The purple comes from natural iron content plus background gamma radiation acting on the crystal over geological time.

Will amethyst fade in sunlight?

It can fade slowly under direct prolonged sun, similar to rose quartz. A windowsill spot may shift the color over a few months. Display in indirect light if you want the color preserved long-term.
