Sacral chakra stones list

The sacral chakra, Svadhisthana in Sanskrit, is the second of the seven, seated just below the navel, with orange as its color and water as its element. Almost everything in this collection sits somewhere between pale peach and deep rust.

1. Carnelian. The biggest group here by a wide margin. It's chalcedony colored by iron, and ours comes raw from Brazil and tumbled from Madagascar, with banded pieces from Botswana. The raw Brazilian material has a matte, broken-toffee look.
2. Peach moonstone. From Madagascar. A soft peach body with the moonstone glow, a pale light that slides across the surface as you tilt it.
3. Earth moonstone. The same glow in browner, quieter tones, also Madagascan. For anyone who wants the sacral palette without the brightness.
4. Orange calcite. Mexican, with a waxy, lit-from-inside quality that photos never quite catch. Soft at 3 on the Mohs scale.
5. Agate. Banded chalcedony from Botswana and Brazil, each stripe a pause in the silica that filled a gas pocket in old lava.
6. Crazy lace agate. From northern Mexico, looping bands of cream, ochre and red that earn the name.

Sacral chakra blocked symptoms

The tradition reads the sacral chakra as the seat of appetite in the broad sense, wanting things and enjoying them. An unsettled second chakra usually gets described through experiences like these.

• A creative dry spell, where ideas that used to arrive on their own simply don't.
• Pleasure going flat, so meals, music and company all render in gray.
• Emotions that either won't move at all or arrive all at once.
• Planning everything and looking forward to none of it.

How to unblock the sacral chakra

Sacral practice in the tradition runs through movement and water, and it stays simple.

1. Move your hips. Slow circles, a stretch, two songs of kitchen dancing, anything that reminds the middle of the body it can move.
2. Lie down and rest a flat stone just below the navel for ten unhurried minutes. A tumbled carnelian or a palm-sized agate sits well there.
3. Keep one stone in a coat pocket and let touching it become the small habit that interrupts autopilot.
4. Add orange to the week on purpose. Fruit in a bowl, one orange thing worn, a stone on the windowsill where afternoon light lands.

The water signs have the strongest claim on this chakra, so Cancer and Scorpio are the pairings people search most, with Taurus close behind through carnelian. One step down the ladder is the root chakra, one step up is the solar plexus.

Choosing between raw, tumbled and polished

Carnelian and the agates run 6.5 to 7 on the Mohs scale, hard enough that raw, tumbled and polished all stand up to handling, so the choice is about look and feel. Raw carnelian has more presence on a shelf. Tumbled is what you want in a pocket. The moonstones, at 6 to 6.5, prefer not to rattle around loose with harder stones. Orange calcite is the exception, soft at 3 and happiest kept dry on a desk where it can do what it does with light.
