Where does your emerald come from?

The emerald we carry is sourced from Zimbabwe and Brazil. Every product page names the specific country of origin. If we can name the region or the mine, we do. If we can't verify it, we say so rather than guess.

How do I know your emerald is real and not dyed?

Every piece of emerald we sell is hand-graded and checked against known treatment patterns before it's listed. If a stone has been dyed, heated, irradiated, or coated in any way, we disclose it on the product page. How do I cleanse and care for emerald?

Most people cleanse emerald with sound (a bell or a singing bowl), smoke (sage, palo santo, cedar), moonlight overnight, or by placing it on a piece of selenite. Emerald is hard enough at 7.5 on the Mohs scale to handle most cleansing methods. How often is up to you. A weekly reset is a common rhythm, but there's no rule. The practice matters more than the schedule.

Commercial emeralds almost always contain natural inclusions called "jardin" (French for garden), which are accepted as part of the stone's character. Near-universal treatment in the gem market is oiling, where natural or synthetic oils are impregnated into surface-reaching fractures to improve clarity.
