Before You Buy Sodalite

Natural or dyed?

Most sodalite is naturally blue, but white sodalite is sometimes dyed to give it that popular color. We disclose all treatments on the product page.

How blue is it?

Sodalite runs from light blue to deep royal blue and is almost always veined with white. How much white shows varies from stone to stone.

Sodalite or lapis?

Both are blue and can show white veins, but lapis usually has gold pyrite flecks and sodalite rarely does.

Care

At 5.5 to 6 on the Mohs scale it scratches more easily than quartz. Clean it with warm water, mild soap and a soft brush, store it apart from harder stones, and keep it away from heat.
