In traditional crystal practice, agate is most commonly worked with for grounding, stability, and protection. It's not medicine, and no stone will fix anything on its own. Think of it as a physical cue for a practice you're already building. The stone holds the attention, the practice does the work.

Where does your agate come from?

The agate we carry is sourced from Madagascar and Brazil. Every product page names the specific country of origin. If we can name the region or the mine, we do. If we can't verify it, we say so rather than guess.

How do I know your agate is real and not dyed?

Every piece of agate we sell is hand-graded and checked against known treatment patterns before it's listed. If a stone has been dyed, heated, irradiated, or coated in any way, we disclose it on the product page. Our sourcing goes through the Beyond Ethical supply network, which means we know who handled the rough before us. No mystery lots, no filler, no dyed stones passed off as natural.

How do I cleanse and care for agate?

Most people cleanse agate with sound (a bell or a singing bowl), smoke (sage, palo santo, cedar), moonlight overnight, or by placing it on a piece of selenite. Agate is moderately soft at 6.5-7 on the Mohs scale, so short water rinses are fine but avoid long soaks. How often is up to you. A weekly reset is a common rhythm, but there's no rule. The practice matters more than the schedule.

Dendritic agate is a translucent chalcedony variety featuring beautiful fern, tree, or branching patterns inside the stone. The dendrites are not fossilized plants; they're iron or manganese oxide mineral deposits that formed in tree-like shapes along fractures within the silica matrix. Dendritic agate is typically semi-transparent to milky, with the dendrites visible as dark brown, black, or reddish formations. The effect is striking and entirely natural. Most commercial material is sold untreated.
