How do I cleanse and care for red agate?

Most people cleanse red agate with sound (a bell or a singing bowl), smoke (sage, palo santo, cedar), moonlight overnight, or by placing it on a piece of selenite. Red Agate is hard enough at 7 on the Mohs scale to handle most cleansing methods. How often is up to you. A weekly reset is a common rhythm, but there's no rule. The practice matters more than the schedule.

Red Agate is a chalcedony variety colored by iron oxide inclusions, ranging from pale terracotta through deep carnelian red. Traditionally associated with grounding, vitality, and the steady warmth of the root and sacral chakras. Much of the commercial Red Agate on the market is heat-treated to deepen color, which is an acceptable treatment when disclosed.
