In traditional crystal practice, obsidian is most commonly worked with for grounding, stability, and protection. It's not medicine, and no stone will fix anything on its own. Think of it as a physical cue for a practice you're already building. The stone holds the attention, the practice does the work.

How do I know your obsidian is real and not dyed?

Every piece of obsidian we sell is hand-graded and checked against known treatment patterns before it's listed. If a stone has been dyed, heated, irradiated, or coated in any way, we disclose it on the product page. How do I cleanse and care for obsidian?

Most people cleanse obsidian with sound (a bell or a singing bowl), smoke (sage, palo santo, cedar), moonlight overnight, or by placing it on a piece of selenite. Obsidian is moderately soft at 5-5.5 on the Mohs scale, so short water rinses are fine but avoid long soaks. How often is up to you. A weekly reset is a common rhythm, but there's no rule. The practice matters more than the schedule.

Rainbow Obsidian is black volcanic glass whose surface reveals soft iridescent bands of green, violet, gold, and blue when the light catches at the right angle. The sheen comes from aligned nanocrystals of magnetite inside the glass. Traditionally associated with grief processing, emotional layers, and the patient uncovering of what's been hidden. Mexico is essentially the only commercial source.
