This is a polished Sodalite incense holder from Minas Gerais, Brazil, cut from natural sodalite with a small center hole for a stick of incense. It runs about 3 to 4 inches across and 1 to 1.5 inches tall at Mohs 5.5-6, hand-finished with natural jojoba oil. A functional piece of natural stone decor for a desk or altar.
Sodalite is a deep royal-blue stone streaked with white veins of calcite, part of the sodalite group of minerals. Cut and polished, the blue reads rich and calm against the white matrix.
These incense holders come from a cooperative in Minas Gerais, Brazil. Each is polished smooth with a small hole drilled in the center for a stick of incense.
Sodalite has long been associated with clear communication and a quiet, thoughtful mind, and a holder like this keeps a little of that on the desk or altar where you light incense.

Sodalite sits at 5.5-6 on the Mohs scale, about as hard as glass, so it handles daily use but will scratch against harder stones. Keep chemical cleaners away from it; they can etch the surface.
