These are AA-grade Carnelian tumbled stones from Francistown, Botswana, sold by the piece or by the pound. Botswana material runs translucent warm orange to deep red, iron oxide color that often shows soft banding. Each piece runs 1-1.50 inches at Mohs 6.5-7, sourced through a community partnership. A favorite energy stone for pockets.
Carnelian runs from pale peach to deep rust red. The color comes from iron, and the best pieces have a warmth that feels almost lit from within. It's a variety of chalcedony, related to agate, and it polishes up with a glassy shine.
Hand-selected from Francistown, Botswana. Worth knowing: a lot of the carnelian on the market is heat-treated. What we carry is natural and untreated.
