Brown Aragonite is a aragonite (carbonate). Aragonite has been known since ancient times but was only formally recognized as distinct from calcite in the 18th century.
This piece comes from Junín, Peru. This is a softer mineral (3.5 Mohs). Dry storage, gentle handling, and don't let it knock around with quartz or tourmaline.
In crystal traditions, brown aragonite is often associated with staying connected to your body and the moment, quiet, steady calm, and coming back to the task in front of you.
