Shungite is matte black, carbon-rich, and heavier than it looks. Russian in origin, it's been used as a water filter and a talisman for centuries. Elite shungite has a silvery sheen, regular shungite is more matte.
Our slabs are sourced from Republic of Karélia, Russia.
At 2 on the Mohs scale, it's on the softer end. Keep it away from water and store it separately from harder pieces.
