These are A-grade Amethyst raw crystals from Alaotra-Mangoro, Madagascar, sold by the piece or by the pound. Madagascar amethyst spans pale lavender to deep violet, the color set by iron and natural irradiation. Each piece runs 1-2 inches at Mohs 7, sourced through a community partnership. A favorite stress relief stone for crystal grids.
Amethyst has the kind of purple that draws you in without trying. Some pieces are pale lavender, others are deep violet, and the best ones catch light through the crystal structure so they seem to glow from the inside.
Sourced directly from Alaotra-Mangoro, Madagascar. Worth knowing: a lot of the amethyst on the market is heat-treated and irradiated. What we carry is natural and untreated.

Amethyst sits at 7 on the Mohs scale, harder than a steel blade, so it handles daily carry and a quick rinse without fuss. The one thing that hurts it is sunlight: months in a bright window will fade the color, and it does not come back.

A grade raw amethyst has good color and natural form with some variations in saturation, minor surface irregularities, or phantom zones common in natural material. These are genuine rough crystals, not polished or enhanced. Grades reflect visual quality within a batch. A is standard, with typical inclusions. AA shows stronger color, cleaner surfaces and tighter sizing. AAA is the top 10 to 15 percent of a batch. Every lot is inspected and graded by our team in Rockville, Maryland, not taken on the supplier’s word.
These raw crystals are from Madagascar, which produces amethyst ranging from light lavender to deeper purple tones, often with good natural crystal form. It came to us through a community partnership, one of the sourcing models we publish and stand behind.
