What is nontronite good for?

In traditional crystal practice, nontronite is most commonly worked with for love, heart healing, and compassion. It's not medicine, and no stone will fix anything on its own. Think of it as a physical cue for a practice you're already building. The stone holds the attention, the practice does the work.

How do I know your nontronite is real and not dyed?

How do I cleanse and care for nontronite?

Most people cleanse nontronite with sound (a bell or a singing bowl), smoke (sage, palo santo, cedar), moonlight overnight, or by placing it on a piece of selenite. Nontronite is soft at 1-2 on the Mohs scale, so skip water and salt cleansing. How often is up to you. A weekly reset is a common rhythm, but there's no rule. The practice matters more than the schedule.

Nontronite is an iron-rich smectite clay, soft, yellow-green, and named for Nontron in southwestern France where it was first described in 1827. Color comes from ferric iron held within its phyllosilicate sheet structure. Hardness is just 1.5 to 2 on the Mohs scale, which makes it a display piece rather than a daily-carry stone. Our specimens are individually photographed pieces from Minas Gerais, Brazil, sold as discrete pieces with their own locality and condition notes. Traditionally associated with grounding, restorative calm, and emotional balance, and most often connected with the Heart and Root chakras together.
