Carnelian runs from pale peach to deep rust red. The color comes from iron, and the best pieces have a warmth that feels almost lit from within. It's a variety of chalcedony, related to agate, and it polishes up with a glassy shine. It has been one of the most popular gemstones throughout human history, used in everything from Egyptian funerary jewelry to Roman signet rings.
These raw pieces come from Nsipe, Malawi. Worth knowing: a lot of the carnelian on the market is heat-treated. What we carry is natural and untreated.
In crystal traditions, carnelian is often associated with a quiet sense of renewal, settling into who you already are, and making space for new ideas. It's traditionally linked to the sacral and root chakras. If that resonates, place it on your desk or in a creative workspace. Work with it the way that fits your own practice.
