About This Fluorite

Fluorite comes in almost every color, often banded together in a single piece, green, purple, blue, clear. It's soft enough to carve, which is why you'll see so many fluorite shapes on the market. The color bands are the whole story. The phenomenon of fluorescence was named after fluorite.

This piece comes from Erongo, Namibia.

Traditionally Used For

In crystal traditions, fluorite is often associated with coming back to the task in front of you, a simple anchor during practice, and cleansing. It's traditionally linked to the third eye and crown chakras. If that resonates, set it in front of you during meditation or quiet reflection. Work with it the way that fits your own practice.

These are traditional associations drawn from historical practice. This stone is not a substitute for medical or mental health care.

Care and Use

Sensitivity Moderate-High

Fluorite sits at 4 on the Mohs scale, soft enough to scratch with a knife, so keep it dry and store it on its own. The one thing that hurts it is sunlight: months in a bright window will fade the color, and it does not come back.
