Read our Sourcing Standards →These are AA-grade Snowflake Obsidian tumbled stones from Utah, United States, sold by the piece or by the pound. The grey snowflakes are cristobalite crystals that formed as the black volcanic glass cooled slowly underground. Each piece runs 1.50 to 2 inches at Mohs 5-5.5, fully natural and untreated. This is the largest tumbled size we carry. A favorite grounding stone for palm work.
Snowflake Obsidian is part of the volcanic glass family. Named after Obsius, a Roman who reportedly first found it in Ethiopia.

At 1.50 to 2 inches these are the largest tumbled pieces we carry, which gives the snowflake patterning room to read from across a room.
Those who work with snowflake obsidian often turn to it for staying connected to your body and the moment, working through difficult feelings at your own pace, and a sense of groundedness when things feel uncertain. It's traditionally linked to the root and crown chakras. If that resonates, set one on the floor near where you sit to read or work. How you use it is up to you.
These are traditional associations drawn from historical practice. This stone is not a substitute for medical or mental health care.
