Purpurite is a manganese iron phosphate whose velvety purple-to-magenta surface comes from oxidized manganese; Namibia is a primary source. Each piece runs 0.50-2 inches at Mohs 4.5, fully natural and untreated. A favorite meditation stone for collectors.
Purpurite is part of the phosphate family.
Named for its distinctive purple color.

In crystal traditions, purpurite is often associated with listening to the quieter signals, a simple anchor during practice, and clarifying what you actually want. It's traditionally linked to the third eye and crown chakras. If that resonates, place one on a nightstand or on an altar where you sit. Work with it the way that fits your own practice.
These are traditional associations drawn from historical practice. This stone is not a substitute for medical or mental health care.
A starting place for your own quiet practice.
