This is a polished Black Tourmaline in Quartz incense holder from Minas Gerais, Brazil, cut from natural black tourmaline in quartz with a small center hole for a stick of incense. It runs about 3 to 4 inches across and 1 to 1.5 inches tall at Mohs 7, hand-finished with natural jojoba oil. A functional piece of natural stone decor for a desk or altar.
Black Tourmaline in Quartz, sometimes called tourmalinated quartz, is clear to milky quartz threaded with jet-black rods of schorl tourmaline that grew inside it. Cut and polished, the black needles show sharply against the clear ground.
These incense holders come from a cooperative in Minas Gerais, Brazil, polished smooth with a small hole drilled in the center for a stick of incense.
