Natural intergrowth; rarely faked due to complexity of natural formation
Black Tourmaline in Quartz is a natural intergrowth of two minerals: Black Tourmaline (Schorl), a trigonal silicate with a Mohs hardness of 7 to 7.5, and Quartz (SiO2), with a hardness of 7.
The two formed together when tourmaline-rich solutions crystallized inside quartz veins during pegmatite formation. Sometimes called Tourmalinated Quartz, this combination is prized for showing both minerals clearly preserved in a single piece.
Brazilian material is the global benchmark for quality.
Black Tourmaline in Quartz is traditionally associated with grounded protection, energetic clarity, and amplified intention. The Tourmaline component is long held for grounding and shielding work, while the Quartz is traditionally seen as a master amplifier.
Many people work with this stone as a balanced protection piece that holds its ground without feeling heavy.
These are traditional associations drawn from historical practice. This stone is not a substitute for medical or mental health care.
