These are AA-grade Black Tourmaline raw crystals from Minas Gerais, Brazil, sold by the piece or by the pound. Schorl, the iron-rich black member of the tourmaline group, is the most common tourmaline variety on Earth. Each piece runs 1.50-2.50 inches at Mohs 7-7.5, fully natural and untreated. A favorite grounding stone for desks and meditation spaces.
Black tourmaline is dense, heavy for its size, and so dark it reads almost architectural. Run your fingernail along a good piece and you'll feel the vertical striations that tell you the crystal grew straight up out of the rock. Tourmaline derives from the Sinhalese word 'turmali.' Black tourmaline has been used as a protective talisman for centuries.
