These are AAA-grade Black Tourmaline raw crystals from Vakinankaratra, Madagascar, sold by the piece or by the pound. Black tourmaline's vertical striations run parallel to its long axis, a hallmark of how the crystal actually grew. Each piece runs 1-1.50 inches at Mohs 7-7.5, fully natural and untreated. A favorite protection stone for work desks.
Black tourmaline is dense, heavy for its size, and so dark it reads almost architectural. Run your fingernail along a good piece and you'll feel the vertical striations that tell you the crystal grew straight up out of the rock. This piece runs 1 to 1.50 inches, roughly 20 to 40 grams, showing the well-formed prism faces AAA grade is known for.
