About This Black Tourmaline

Black Tourmaline is dense, opaque, and architectural. The natural striations along its sides are signature, the kind of detail that catches light at an angle and reminds you these chunks formed under pressure deep underground.

Hand-selected from Minas Gerais, Brazil. The black color comes from iron and manganese in the crystal lattice. Tourmaline forms in long columnar crystals with three or six sides.

Traditionally Used For

Black Tourmaline has long been worked with for grounding, protection, and clearing dense or stagnant energy. It's traditionally linked to the root chakra. Many people place a piece by a doorway, on a desk near a screen, or carry one in a pocket as a daily anchor.

These are traditional associations drawn from historical practice. This stone is not a substitute for medical or mental health care.

Care and Use

Sensitivity Low

Black Tourmaline sits at 7-7.5 on the Mohs scale, harder than a steel blade, so it handles daily carry and a quick rinse without fuss. The one thing that hurts it is sunlight: months in a bright window will fade the color, and it does not come back.
