These are A-grade Black Tourmaline raw crystals from Mashonaland West, Zimbabwe, sold by the piece or by the pound. The striations running the length of each crystal are natural growth lines, a quick way to spot genuine schorl. Each piece runs 0.50-1.25 inches at Mohs 7-7.5, fully natural and untreated. A favorite grounding stone for desks.
Black tourmaline is dense, heavy for its size, and so dark it reads almost architectural. Run your fingernail along a good piece and you'll feel the vertical striations that tell you the crystal grew straight up out of the rock. This piece runs 0.50 to 1.25 inches, roughly 5 to 20 grams.
