It runs about 4 to 5 inches across and 1.5 inches tall, weighs 2 to 4 pounds, and rates Mohs 7. The base is cut flat so it sits level, and the crystal points are left natural and untreated.

Amethyst is quartz coloured violet by trace iron and natural irradiation, grown inside the gas pockets of ancient Brazilian lava flows. Cut into a candle holder, the flat base steadies the piece while the crystal points across the top are left exactly as they formed.
These come from a cooperative in Minas Gerais, Brazil. Each one is cut from its own section of cluster, so no two match in colour depth, point size, or outline.
Worth knowing: a lot of the amethyst on the market is heat-treated or irradiated. These are natural, and the purple you see is the purple the stone grew with.
Amethyst is traditionally a stone for quiet, steady calm, winding down at the end of a day, and settling into rest. It is linked to the third eye and crown chakras.
As a candle holder it lives where you slow a room down, which suits the stone's character. How you use it is up to you.
These are traditional associations drawn from historical practice. This stone is not a substitute for medical or mental health care.
