These are AA-grade Aquamarine raw crystals from Minas Gerais, Brazil, sold by the piece or by the pound. Aquamarine is the blue variety of beryl, tinted sky blue to teal by trace iron. Each piece runs 1-2 inches at Mohs 7.5-8, sourced through a community partnership. A favorite stress relief stone for desks.
Aquamarine is the pale blue variety of beryl, same family as emerald. The color runs from nearly colorless to a soft sea blue, and the best pieces have the transparency of shallow water.
Sourced directly from Minas Gerais, Brazil. Worth knowing: a lot of the aquamarine on the market is heat-treated. What we carry is natural and untreated.
The name means 'sea water' in Latin, reflecting its long association with the ocean and maritime travel.
