These are AA-grade Black Obsidian raw stones from Salta Province, Argentina, sold by the piece or by the pound. Obsidian is natural volcanic glass, formed when lava cools too quickly for crystals to grow. Each piece runs 1-2 inches at Mohs 5-5.5, fully natural and untreated. A favorite protection stone for entryways.
Black obsidian is volcanic glass. Sharp, glossy, formed when lava cooled too fast to crystallize. It's one of the oldest materials humans have used for tools, and it still feels ancient when you hold a piece.
We bring these raw pieces in from Salta Province, Argentina.
Named after Obsius, a Roman who reportedly first found it in Ethiopia.
In the tradition, black obsidian shows up most often around a sense of groundedness when things feel uncertain, staying connected to your body and the moment, and cleansing. It's traditionally linked to the root chakra. If that resonates, hold one in your non-dominant hand for a few breaths when things feel shaky. Trust what feels useful and leave the rest.
