★★★★★

i am so pleased with everything i have ordered from beyond bohemian. i have a small shop and was able to get a wholesale account and it's one of the best things i've ever done. they are a genuinely ethical company and the crystals and stones are top quality. also, the care they put into the packaging and all the small details was not lost on me. i'm so grateful to have found them!

About This Black Onyx

Black onyx is deep, uniform black with a glassy polish when it's cut right. Most market material has been dyed for consistent color, so if the seller doesn't mention that, assume it.

Our tumbled stones are sourced from Ancash, Peru. Worth knowing: a lot of the black onyx on the market is dyed. What we carry is natural and untreated.

The Romans carved it into cameos, and most commercial black onyx on the market has been dyed for consistent color since naturally solid-black material is rare.

Traditionally Used For

In crystal traditions, black onyx is often associated with a sense of groundedness when things feel uncertain, staying connected to your body and the moment, and settling into who you already are. It's traditionally linked to the root chakra. If that resonates, set one on the floor near where you sit to read or work. Work with it the way that fits your own practice.

These are traditional associations drawn from historical practice. This stone is not a substitute for medical or mental health care.

Care and Use

Sensitivity Low

Black Onyx sits at 6.5-7 on the Mohs scale, about as hard as glass, so it handles daily use but will scratch against harder stones. Keep chemical cleaners away from it; they can etch the surface.
