These are AA-grade Carnelian palm stones from Boeny, Madagascar. Carnelian's warm color deepens with rising iron content, ranging from soft amber-orange to near red in a single lot. Each palm stone runs 1.50-3 inches at Mohs 6.5-7, sourced through a community partnership. A favorite energy stone for meditation spaces.
Carnelian runs from pale peach to deep rust red. The color comes from iron, and the best pieces have a warmth that feels almost lit from within. It's a variety of chalcedony, related to agate, and it polishes up with a glassy shine.
Sourced directly from Boeny, Madagascar. Worth knowing: a lot of the carnelian on the market is heat-treated. What we carry is natural and untreated.

Carnelian sits at 6.5-7 on the Mohs scale, about as hard as glass, so it handles daily use but will scratch against harder stones. Keep chemical cleaners away from it; they can etch the surface.
