These are AA-grade Fire Quartz tumbled stones from Alaotra-Mangoro, Madagascar, sold by the piece or by the pound. Fire quartz, also called hematoid quartz, gets its red and golden streaks from hematite trapped inside clear quartz. Each piece runs 1-1.50 inches at Mohs 7, sourced through a community partnership. A favorite confidence stone for pockets.
Fire quartz is clear or smoky quartz threaded with hematite inclusions that look like flame or streaks of rust inside the crystal. The inclusions make every piece different.
Sourced directly from Alaotra-Mangoro, Madagascar. Worth knowing: a lot of the fire quartz on the market is heat-treated. What we carry is natural and untreated.
In the tradition, fire quartz shows up most often around staying connected to your body and the moment, settling into who you already are, and coming back to the task in front of you. Fire Quartz sits at 7 on the Mohs scale, harder than a steel blade, so it handles daily carry and a quick rinse without fuss. Keep chemical cleaners away from it; they can etch the surface.

You'll receive pieces from the same batch photographed, weighed to the amount you choose. Every piece passes our quality control and meets or exceeds what you see in the photos. Single specimens are listed separately and say so.
Each piece measures 1 to 1.5 inches on its longest side and weighs 10 to 30 grams. About 24 to 40 pieces per pound at this size, and each option shows its piece count.
AA grade indicates strong, well-distributed hematite inclusions giving good color contrast, combined with a quality tumble polish and minimal surface damage or fractures. Grades reflect visual quality within a batch. A is standard, with typical inclusions. AA shows stronger color, cleaner surfaces and tighter sizing. AAA is the top 10 to 15 percent of a batch. Every lot is inspected and graded by our team in Rockville, Maryland, not taken on the supplier’s word.
