About This Prehnite

Prehnite is a calcium aluminum phyllosilicate within the Silicates family.

Sourced through a community partnership in Erongo, Namibia.

Named after Colonel Hendrik von Prehn, who introduced the mineral to European collectors in the 18th century, making it one of the first minerals named after a person.

Traditionally Used For

In the tradition, Prehnite shows up most often around clarity, calm, and quiet intuition. It's traditionally linked to the Heart and Solar Plexus chakras. If that resonates, keep a piece nearby during focused work or decision-making. Trust what feels useful and leave the rest.

These are traditional associations drawn from historical practice. This stone is not a substitute for medical or mental health care.

Care and Use

Sensitivity Low

Prehnite sits at 6–6.5 on the Mohs scale, about as hard as glass, so it handles daily use but will scratch against harder stones. Skip saltwater; it etches the surface.
