About This Howlite

Howlite reads like white marble shot through with gray veins that almost look like ink drawn across the surface. It's chalky, cool to the touch, and soft enough that you want to handle it with a little care.

Our tumbled stones are sourced from Masvingo, Zimbabwe.

At 3.5 on the Mohs scale, it's on the softer end. Keep it away from water and store it separately from harder pieces.

Howlite was named for Henry How, the Nova Scotia mineralogist who first described it in 1868.

Natural howlite from Masvingo, Zimbabwe. Untreated and undyed. Howlite is often dyed blue and sold as turquoise; ours is natural white and gray.
