These are AA-grade Smoky Quartz raw crystals from Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil, sold by the piece or by the pound. Smoky quartz gets its brown-to-gray tone from natural radiation acting on trace aluminum in the crystal lattice. Each piece runs 1-2 inches at Mohs 7, sourced through a community partnership. A favorite grounding stone for pockets.
Smoky quartz is transparent brown-to-gray quartz, the color coming from natural irradiation deep in the earth. Good pieces feel cool and heavy in the hand, and the darker smoky points almost look like they're holding shadow.
Hand-selected from Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. Worth knowing: a lot of the smoky quartz on the market is irradiated. What we carry is natural and untreated.
