These are AA-grade Smoky Quartz raw crystals from Minas Gerais, Brazil, sold by the piece or by the pound. Smoky quartz is the brown member of the quartz family, its tone deepening where natural radiation acted longest. Each piece runs 0.25-0.75 inches at Mohs 7, sourced through a community partnership. A favorite grounding stone for crystal grids.
Smoky Quartz pieces are translucent brown to deep gray-black, with the color sitting evenly through the crystal rather than on the surface. Some pieces are nearly clear with a smoky tint, others are dense charcoal.
Hand-selected from Minas Gerais, Brazil. The smoky color comes from natural radiation acting on aluminum impurities deep within the earth, the only quartz variety to form this way.
Smoky Quartz has long been worked with for grounding, releasing, and steady stress relief. It's linked to the root chakra. Many people keep a piece in a workspace or by a doorway as a reminder to come back to the body and the present.

Smoky Quartz sits at 7 on the Mohs scale, harder than a steel blade, so it handles daily carry and a quick rinse without fuss. The one thing that hurts it is sunlight: months in a bright window will fade the color, and it does not come back.

Each piece measures 0.25 to 0.75 inches on its longest side and weighs 5 to 10 grams. About 48 to 72 pieces per pound at this size, and each option shows its piece count.
Grade AA raw crystals, sold by weight. Translucent brown color, natural raw terminations. Grades reflect visual quality within a batch. A is standard, with typical inclusions. AA shows stronger color, cleaner surfaces and tighter sizing. AAA is the top 10 to 15 percent of a batch. Every lot is inspected and graded by our team in Rockville, Maryland, not taken on the supplier’s word.
