This is an AA-grade Bloodstone specimen from Hhohho, Eswatini. The red flecks scattered across the green chalcedony are iron oxide, the marking that earned bloodstone its name. It measures 4.22 by 4.17 by 2.68 inches at Mohs 6.5-7, fully natural and untreated. A favorite protection stone for entryways.
Bloodstone is a dark green chalcedony dotted with red iron oxide inclusions that look like drops of blood on moss. The name is old, and so is the stone's reputation as a working-person's talisman. It is one of the oldest known gemstones, prized for centuries as a talisman of courage and vitality.
