This is an AA-grade Ocean Jasper sphere from Sofia, Madagascar. The stone's orbs are spherulites, radiating silica structures that read like small eyes across the polished surface. The sphere measures 2.91 inches (73.9 millimeters) at Mohs 6.5-7, sourced through a community partnership. A favorite stress relief stone for desks.
Ocean jasper is a riot of orbs and swirls in green, pink, white, and rust. No two pieces look alike. It's only found in one place on earth, the coast of northwestern Madagascar, and the original mine has been worked out for years. Named for its location on the ocean coast accessible only by sea.

Ocean Jasper sits at 6.5-7 on the Mohs scale, about as hard as glass, so it handles daily use but will scratch against harder stones. Keep chemical cleaners away from it; they can etch the surface.
