This is a AAA-grade selenite raw crystal clearing slab from New Mexico, USA. Selenite is fibrous gypsum, and the parallel fibers give this flat plate its satin sheen and translucency. The exact piece pictured measures 6.22" L x 5.83" W x 0.52" H and weighs 0.84 pounds at Mohs 2, fully natural and untreated. Keep it dry. A favorite cleansing stone for crystal grids.
Selenite is a crystalline form of gypsum, laid down where ancient salt water evaporated and left soft fibrous beds behind. It is named after Selene, the Greek goddess of the moon, for the way light travels along the fiber.
