This is an AAA-grade selenite raw crystal standing slab from New Mexico, USA. Selenite is fibrous gypsum, and this broad panel retains its natural broken upper edge with visible terminations. The exact piece pictured measures 9.83" L x 0.74" W x 7.15" H at Mohs 2, fully natural and untreated. A favorite cleansing stone for consoles.
Selenite is a crystalline form of gypsum, laid down where ancient salt water evaporated and left soft fibrous beds behind. It is named after Selene, the Greek goddess of the moon, for the way light travels along the fiber.
This piece is raw. Only the base is cut flat so it stands on its own. The top edge is left as it broke, with the crystal terminations still visible. No stand needed and none included.
