How are points made from shungite?

Rough is cut into a rough wedge, then hand-ground into the point form. Shungite is soft enough to shape but brittle, so points are generally short and stout rather than long and slender.

Is shungite heated or chemically treated?

No. Carving and polishing only. The black color is original to the stone, not added.

Can shungite get wet?

Brief contact is fine, but don't soak it. Carbon-rich rock can slowly soften with extended water exposure, and water can pull faint dust to the surface.

What do people use shungite points for?

Some practitioners use them as directional pieces in grid layouts. Others keep them on desks as grounding focal points. Traditional shungite practice in Karelia is older than the point form itself.

What does a crystal grade (A, AA, or AAA) actually mean?

Crystal grades reflect visual quality within a single batch. Grade A is standard quality with typical inclusions. Grade AA shows stronger color saturation, cleaner surface, and tighter sizing. Grade AAA represents the top 10 to 15 percent of any batch: exceptional clarity, consistent color, and minimal surface variation.
