No. A lot of amethyst on the market is heat-treated or irradiated to deepen colour. This piece is natural, hand-finished only with a light coat of jojoba oil, and bought directly at the source in Artigas.

Yes. The base is cut flat and polished so it stands unaided on a level surface.
