About This Chlorite Quartz

Chlorite quartz is quartz that grew with green chlorite sealed inside it. At this size the inclusions are dense enough that most points read as solid green rather than clear crystal with a green wisp, and some carry phantoms, ghostly outlines of an earlier stage of growth.

Hand-selected from Mashonaland Central, Zimbabwe.

Traditionally Used For

Chlorite quartz has long been used in practices around cleansing, gentle renewal, and steadying yourself after a hard stretch. It's traditionally linked to the heart chakra. Larger points like these are often set at the center of a grid or kept somewhere you pass by often. There's no single right way to work with it.

These are traditional associations drawn from historical practice. This stone is not a substitute for medical or mental health care.

Care and Use

Sensitivity Low

Chlorite Quartz sits at 7 on the Mohs scale, harder than a steel blade, so it handles daily carry and a quick rinse without fuss. Keep chemical cleaners away from it; they can etch the surface.

Questions Before You Buy

Is this real chlorite quartz, and is it heated, dyed or treated?

Natural chlorite quartz from Mashonaland Central, Zimbabwe. Untreated. The green is chlorite mineral trapped inside the quartz as it grew, not a dye or a surface coating.

Will I get the exact pieces in the photos?

You'll receive pieces from the same batch photographed, weighed to the amount you choose. Every piece passes our quality control and meets or exceeds what you see in the photos. Single specimens are listed separately and say so.

What size are the pieces, and how many are in a pound?

Each piece measures 1 to 1.5 inches on its longest side and weighs 10 to 20 grams. About 24 to 40 pieces per pound at this size, and each option shows its piece count.

What does A grade mean?

Grades reflect visual quality within a batch. A is standard, with typical inclusions. AA shows stronger color, cleaner surfaces and tighter sizing. AAA is the top 10 to 15 percent of a batch. Every lot is inspected and graded by our team in Rockville, Maryland, not taken on the supplier’s word.

Where does it come from, and how do you know?

This lot is from Mashonaland Central, Zimbabwe. It came to us through an artisan network, one of the sourcing models we publish and stand behind.
