These are AA-grade Petrified Wood tumbled stones from Mahajanga, Madagascar, sold by the piece or by the pound. In petrified wood, silica replaced ancient tree tissue so completely that grain and growth rings survive in stone. Each piece runs 0.75-1.25 inches at Mohs 5.5-6.5, fully natural and untreated. A favorite grounding stone for pockets.
Petrified wood is wood that turned to stone over millions of years as silica replaced the original cellular structure. Good pieces still show the growth rings, the grain, the knots. Every piece is a record of a tree that lived a long time ago. Petrified Wood is associated with grounding, ancient wisdom, and patience.

Petrified Wood sits at 5.5-6.5 on the Mohs scale, about as hard as glass, so it handles daily use but will scratch against harder stones. Keep chemical cleaners away from it; they can etch the surface.
