These are A-grade Petrified Wood tumbled stones from Boeny, Madagascar, sold by the piece or by the pound. Each stone began as living wood; mineral-rich water slowly replaced the organic material with silica, preserving the grain. Each piece runs 1-1.50 inches at Mohs 5.5-6.5, fully natural and untreated. A favorite grounding stone for pockets.
Petrified wood is wood that turned to stone over millions of years as silica replaced the original cellular structure. Good pieces still show the growth rings, the grain, the knots. Every piece is a record of a tree that lived a long time ago.
