This is a Collector-grade Rose Quartz with Black Tourmaline specimen from Minas Gerais, Brazil. The piece pairs pink rose quartz with naturally co-occurring black schorl tourmaline in one matrix. It measures 2.80 x 1.69 x 2.50 inches at Mohs 7 to 7.5, fully natural and untreated. A favorite love stone for display shelves.
Rose Quartz with Black Tourmaline is a true combination specimen of two minerals that formed side by side in the same pegmatite environment. Rose quartz is a macrocrystalline pink variety of quartz, colored by trace titanium, iron, manganese, and microscopic fibrous inclusions. Black tourmaline, properly called schorl, is a complex iron-aluminum borosilicate from the tourmaline group.
Both minerals sit at Mohs 7 to 7.5, which is why they often appear bonded cleanly in finished specimens. They form together in granitic pegmatites, the slow-cooling pockets of mineral-rich melt that produce most of the world's gem-quality quartz, tourmaline, and beryl.
Brazil's Minas Gerais pegmatite belt is one of the most productive sources of this exact combination on earth, with family-run operations supplying collectors worldwide.
