This is an AA-grade Lepidolite cluster specimen from Minas Gerais, Brazil. Lepidolite is a lithium-bearing mica whose stacked platy crystals give a lilac shimmer. This piece measures 3.67 x 2.37 x 1.57 inches at Mohs 2.5-3 and comes through a community partnership. A favorite sleep stone for bedside tables.
Lepidolite has a lavender-gray shimmer that comes from its layered mica structure. Hold one up to the light and you'll see it flash, almost like cracked ice. It's one of the softer stones we carry, which means you treat it gently.
This piece comes from Minas Gerais, Brazil. This is a softer mineral (2.5-3 Mohs). Dry storage, gentle handling, and don't let it knock around with quartz or tourmaline. Worth knowing: a lot of the lepidolite on the market is stabilized. What we carry is natural and untreated.
The name comes from Greek 'lepidos' meaning scale, referring to its scaly, micaceous texture.
