These are AA-grade Carnelian raw stones from Boeny, Madagascar, sold by the piece or by the pound. Raw carnelian keeps its natural fractured surface, showing amber-to-deep-orange color that comes from iron oxide in chalcedony. Each piece runs 1-2 inches at Mohs 6.5-7, sourced through a community partnership. A favorite confidence stone for crystal grids.
Carnelian runs from pale peach to deep rust red. The color comes from iron, and the best pieces have a warmth that feels almost lit from within. It's a variety of chalcedony, related to agate, and it polishes up with a glassy shine.

Carnelian sits at 6.5-7 on the Mohs scale, about as hard as glass, so it handles daily use but will scratch against harder stones. Keep chemical cleaners away from it; they can etch the surface.
