Rosasite
Rosasite is carbonate (copper-zinc), (Cu,Zn)₂(CO₃)(OH)₂. In the hand, it rates 4 to 4.5 on the Mohs scale, and it runs blue-green and turquoise. Turquoise-blue fuzzy balls dotting rusty matrix, firmer and bluer than aurichalcite's feathery turquoise tufts, often sugar-dusted with calcite.
The geology.
Rosasite carries the formula (Cu,Zn)₂(CO₃)(OH)₂. It belongs to the monoclinic system. The trade files it under carbonate (copper-zinc).
It sits at 4 to 4.5 on the Mohs scale. The surface reads silky to vitreous. Light behaviour is translucent. Specific gravity runs 4.0 to 4.2. The streak is pale blue-green. It breaks with fibrous; rounded balls.

Care & handling.
At 4 to 4.5 on the Mohs scale this is a soft material. Keep it as a display piece, store it apart from harder stones, and skip daily-wear settings.
It breaks with fibrous; rounded balls, which is worth knowing before you set it or drop it.
Skip the ultrasonic. Lukewarm water, mild soap and a soft cloth handle routine cleaning without risk.
