This is an AA-grade Blue Lace Agate raw geode from Nsipe, Malawi. Blue lace agate is banded chalcedony that lines cavities in volcanic rock, and this piece is uncut, with pale blue druzy inside its natural hollow. It measures 3.87 x 2.73 x 1.98 inches and weighs 0.87 pounds at Mohs 6.5-7, sourced through a community partnership. A favorite calming stone for altars.
Blue lace agate is banded chalcedony, microcrystalline quartz that forms soft pale-blue layers inside cavities in volcanic rock. This is a raw geode, uncut: the blue banded chalcedony and its druzy crystal line the inside of a natural hollow, framed by the rough tan and gray host rock exactly as it came out of the ground.
The gentle, cloud-like banding is what people gravitate toward when they want to slow down.
